MKM was founded in 1953 by James "Don" Moore. MKM's primary focus at the time was tool and die work. After 8 years of success in New Albany, Indiana, it was time to relocate to a larger building in Clarksville, Indiana. During this time, IBM and General Electric were a big source of business for MKM. To continue the growth enjoyed thus far, MKM expanded its high volume capabilities. Soon after, automotive companies turned to MKM for their component part needs.

In 1985, Don's son, Robert Moore, took over as President of MKM, guiding the business over the next 20 years and more than tripling the sales volume. The building in Clarksville was expanded several times through the years and in 1996, MKM moved once again to the current location in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This move amplified Robert's focus for MKM towards automotive customers as well as the birth of our Lean Manufacturing program, MPS. MKM increased capabilities in the production of business machine shafts, lawn & garden parts, and defense work by purchasing an additional facility in Sarasota, Florida in 2001. Starting in 2006, Robert moved to the position of Chairman and CEO, naming Dan Peterworth as President and COO of MKM.
MKM currently occupies only about half of the 280,000 square foot facility, leaving plenty of room for future growth. The future of MKM includes Robert Moore's son, Craig, who was brought in to the family business in 2003 after graduating from Purdue University. Craig Moore is preparing to assume his father's role in the years to come.
